Who can recall all the different learning theories?
I know I can’t.
At best we might remember to three to five most significant theories, from behavioralism to constructivism and all the possibilities inbetween. So having a one page chart that brings together all the many different theories, including the variations on the basic ones, would no doubt be helpful.
Thanks to Richard Millwood of HoTEL (Holistic Approach to Technology Enhanced Learning), a UK-based learning project, such a chart is now available. Millwood created what he calls the Learning Theory Map. Some people were circulating a link to a PDF version, which is good, but doesn’t provide interactive links to more information about each theory. I found the original HTML version of the Map that does include the interactive links.
Happy learning!
